Book Description
If the bankers had faced the same sort of scrutiny as dog food,
the toxic debts would not have got into the market.
Accepted for entry into the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award 2010 this book discusses the impact of the sub-prime crisis, what may ensue, what should ensue and how the industry can extract value from an apparent disaster. It deals with the impact of technologies, both hard (eg information and communication technologies) and soft (new ways of working, eg teleworking) and the impact caused by the waves of change as a result of the climate change juggernaut, including threats (eg reaction against globalization) and opportunities (eg cost reductions from adoption of greener technologies, buildings and ways of working).
It considers and discusses the impact of demographic change. In the next 10-20 years the influence of the boomers will wane and new generations will assume more and more influential roles in the workplace and in the marketplace, reshaping both. Finally the author returns to the scope defined in the early chapters and offers Practical advice to the industry as a whole (and implicitly to governments) on how to deal with these global trends.
